Hello everybody! And sorry that you heard nothing from me for so long. I had a stressful month and the new year starts with a lot of very big changes in my life. But I will tell you later more on that. In this post I want to share some of my latest work from the darkroom.
So, what have I been up to? I began to experiment with chemigrams. That’s a very interesting way to use a darkroom: you use the chemicals like the developer, different small light sources, weird material, other chemicals foreign to the darkroom,… Basically I’m still trying to figure out what I’m actual doing. But there are a lot of great artist with so interesting results! I found a very informative blog for this kind of photographic work: http://nonfigurativephoto.blogspot.co.at and if you like, you can also search for the german artist Heinz Hajek-Halke who is very inspiring for me. So, here are some of my first tests:
I also began to use a very wonderful photographic paper from Ilford. I bought it already three years ago because it has a great optic and haptic, but it was so expensive that I always thought: I need a very special photo, a very special project…. Never think like that! You end up like I do, with a lot of very special and unused notebooks, photo papers and other creative material. So, I try to stop this now and I used it. And I’m very happy with the first results! Here are two pictures (sorry for the quality, I still need to scan them properly):
What else is coming? I’m not sure how much time I can spend in the next weeks for my creative work, but I will try to work a bit more in the darkroom. Also I want to print some linocuts (I want to do them since December…). And I’m trying to figure out how I can present my works (especially my prints) better online. Maybe I can integrate a showroom in my blog?! Let’s see. That’s for now, hope to write you soon some news!
